Shelter – Emergency Housing for Homeless Adults

The Monmouth County Adult Shelter facility serves hundreds of homeless men and woman throughout Monmouth County each year by providing them with safe lodging, nutritious meals and supportive services. The Affordable Housing Alliance (AHA) receives referrals directly from the Monmouth County Division of Social Services for clients in need of emergency housing. Once a resident is placed at the facility, AHA provides case management services, creates a unique service plan, assesses each client’s strengths, and assists them in turning their challenges into areas of opportunity. To facilitate this, daily transportation to social services, the unemployment office, the county library and other social service organizations is provided. Clients are offered resume writing assistance, job search assistance, and housing search assistance. In addition, AHA has partnered with the Mental Health Association and the Visiting Nurse association to provide weekly screenings and wellness visits for all residents.
