Donna M. Blaze

M.A, Chief Executive Officer, 6/91 - present

Ms. Blaze has her Bachelor of Arts degree from Montclair State University and Master of Arts degree from the University of South Florida. She began her career at the Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services Organization in Florida, where for five years she worked as a Residential Systems Administrator. In 1988, she moved back to New Jersey and started working as a Coordinator of Special Housing at the Monmouth County Department of Human Services.  In 1991, she founded the Monmouth Housing Alliance due to the paucity of affordable housing available to low income residents in Monmouth County.  In 2010, the organization changed names to Affordable Housing Alliance, expanding its services to Ocean and Mercer County.

Ms. Blaze founded the organization with a vision to create affordable housing that was accessible, safe, comfortable and located in places people wanted to live. Twenty-two years later the vision has been manifested for the low-income, disabled, senior citizens, and working poor families, through the diverse programs and solutions that AHA offers.

With over forty years of experience in consultation, technical assistance, and management of affordable housing programs for low income and special needs population, Ms. Blaze oversees the management, development, construction, and financing of all internal and consultant projects. She is an ethical, goal driven manager with a compassion for the human condition.

During the past 23 years with the Alliance, she has successfully secured and renovated more than 400 affordable housing units, and secured over $25,000,000 in State and Federal funding for purchase, construction, and renovation of projects. Recently, the Affordable Housing Alliance received one of the largest tri-state Sandy relief grants and became a major relief responder in the area.

She is a Board member for the Monmouth County Long Term Recovery Group, Affordable Housing and Community Development Network of NJ, Human Service Advisory Council, and Wells Fargo Community Investment Committee.  Ms. Blaze is a certified housing counselor, certified public housing manager, certified homeowner education counselor, and certified real estate manager. Ms. Blaze has also acted as a HUD consultant.  She is a guest speaker throughout New Jersey on the development of supportive, affordable housing options.

Ms. Blaze spends her free time playing tennis, relaxing with her two sons, husband, and two dogs, Bowzer and Bella.
